Call for Indigenous Artists

The Union Public Arts and Four Directions is working towards creating a mural on our campus.  We are currently searching for Indigenous Artists all across the United States.  Our goal for this mural is to: honor the Native lands which our university is currently on; amplify the voices of Indigenous students and faculty; serve as a symbol of Indigenous presence on campus; and to show prospective Native students and faculty that they have a home on our campus. This mural will be hung in the Mizzou Student Center.  The space allotted for the mural is 15ft x 15ft (225 sq. ft.).  Due to size of the space, we have decided the mural will consist of nine 5ft x 5ft canvas as a grid within the space.  We have also come up with a basic idea of what we would like the mural to look like.  Our organization would like to see the state of Missouri "indigenized" with seven different sections representing the seven different tribes (Chickasaw, Illini, Ioway, Otoe, Missouria, Osage, and Quapa

Celebrating Black History Month at Mizzou

Mizzou and the Student Unions would like to invite students to come and celebrate Black History Month at the University of Missouri-Columbia with us!  Our annual exhibit celebrating the struggles and triumphs of the African-American community at Mizzou is now up in the Mizzou Student Center. Students can visit the exhibit on the first floor in the exhibition case next to the Shack Restaurant.  Come and learn about Black History at Mizzou!
