Celebrate March Madness at Mizzou! -- The History of Tigers Basketball!

March Madness is upon us, and what better way to celebrate the electrifying season than by diving deep into the rich history of Mizzou Basketball? This year, MU Student Unions, in collaboration with Mizzou Athletics, proudly presents an exclusive exhibition located on the second floor of the Student Center.

On the Second Floor of Student Center

This exhibition dives into the rich history of Mizzou Basketball, highlighting men’s, women’s, and wheelchair basketball, as well as legendary players and coaches who have shaped the game.

Basketball at Mizzou has deep roots, going back to 1906 when three freshmen—Hezekiah Henley, Carl Ristine, and Josh Gardner—convinced athletics director Clark Hetherington to start a men’s basketball team. The team’s first coach, Isadore “Izzy” Anderson, led them to their first home game at Rothwell Gymnasium, marking the beginning of a tradition that continues to inspire.

This exhibition is more than just a collection of memorabilia; it’s a celebration of the passion, perseverance, and pride that define Mizzou Basketball. Whether you’re reminiscing about historic victories or learning about the incredible achievements of our athletes for the first time, there’s something for every fan to enjoy.

We invite you to come and experience this unique tribute to Mizzou’s basketball legacy. Bring your friends, relive the glory days, and get inspired by the incredible journey of our teams. See you at the Student Center—M-I-Z!
