Welcome to MU Student Center's Pride exhibition, which celebrates diversity, inclusiveness, and unity in the LGBTQ+ community. We deeply thank the LGBTQ Resource Center for their contributions to this exhibition. This display will be through the summer. MU Student Center's Pride exhibition on the first floor of the Student Center At the center of our display is the Progress Pride Flag, a powerful emblem of unity and progress. This flag's original design, which includes a chevron along the hoist embellished with black, brown, light blue, pink, and white stripes, reflects communities such as people of color, transgender individuals, and those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Every April, the University of Missouri celebrates Pride Month. Though Pride Month is nationally recognized in June, the LGBTQ resource center celebrates in April so that students on campus can participate. A new exhibition in the Mort's display case on the main level of the Student Center celebrates Mizzou's LGBTQ Student Organizations , and the hard-fought battle students faced in the 1970s in order to form said organizations.  Celebrating LGBTQ History at Mizzou on the first floor of the Student Center.  After seven years of fighting MU in court, LGBTQ students gained the hard-won right to form student organizations in 1978. The struggle began in 1971 when the Gay Liberation group sought approval for their organization, which was denied by the Board of Curators. Courts ruled in favor of the Gay Liberation group citing that the Board of Curators denied the members’ rights to freedom of speech and association.  We are collaborating with the LGBTQ Resource Center, which has gen
