Installations at MU Student Center

Come take a selfie in front of this brightly colored pavilion on the ground floor of the MU Student Center right outside of the Shack.

Next to the pavilion check out other architectural models of proposed pavilions by the students of Studio 2

The MU Student Center welcomes the "Selfie Wall" designed by MU Architectural Studies student Hannah Packard and constructed and built by Professor Lyria Bartlett's Studio 2 class. This pavilion was inspired by the basketry exhibit, Rooted, Revived, Reinvented, displayed at the MU Museum of Art and Archaeology.

The "Selfie Wall" will be on display on the ground floor of the MU Student Center outside of the Shack through the summer.  Be sure to come visit!

Closet as Self by Billy George
As the semester comes to a close, the MU Student Center welcomes the installation of Billy George.  The artwork, Closet as Self, is the second part of a dual installation for a Masters of Fine Arts Thesis by George. The other artwork, Always Have, Always Will Be, is in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery in the Fine Arts Building.

Closet as Self is a visualization of George's journey of coming to terms with his sexuality.  According to George, "It felt like I was still in the closet, but the doors were open."  This work addresses vulnerability and exposure, emotions George experienced during the process of coming out.

Come visit the installation in person on the ground floor of the MU Student Center before May 6!
