The Ladder to Success

Today I thought I would write a celebratory post! Artists Sheila Hawkey and Kate Spencer have completed a new public artwork for the Missouri Student Unions. Hawkey and Spencer developed the concept with MU professor and fiber artist Jo Stealey in Dr. Stealey’s Advanced Fiber course last semester. This newest addition to the Missouri Student Union’s public art collection was commissioned by the Unions Arts Council annual competition. 100 Years of Homecoming (final installment...for now!)

2000s (2005 Savitar ) The annual 5k run/walk takes off. 2000 - Mizzou continued the tradition of using Homecoming celebration as a platform for social change. The blood drive collected a total of 5,166 units. According to Homecoming 2000 recap published in Alumnus Magazine , this was enough blood to benefit 15,498 patients. Additionally, university students collected 50,000 boxes of macaroni and cheese to donate to the Central Missouri Food Bank, built a house for Habitat for Humanity, and the annual 5k raised more than $2,400 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations.  (2003 Savitar ) MU alumna Sheryl Crow greets football fans. 2003 - Alumna Sheryl Crow returns home to her Alma mater to act as Homecoming Grand Marshal.
