Mizzou Tigers Football Collection: The MFA Glassware

Image
Welcome to a unique journey through time and tradition, a retrospective exhibition that celebrates over two decades of Missouri Tigers Football glassware, generously lent to us by the collector, Matt Seggerman . This exhibit offers a fascinating glimpse into the spirited camaraderie and fervent support of the Tigers, encapsulated in exquisite glassware that was more than a mere collectible—it was a symbol of pride and a testament to the enduring legacy of the Missouri Tigers.  From 1966 to 1986, MFA Oil service stations distributed an array of glassware, ranging from elegantly crafted tumblers, also known as water glasses, to practical yet stylish ice bowls, decanters, ashtrays, and pitchers. Color in CoMO

Welcome to Colors in CoMO , a colorful exploration of pigments on paint that transcends pigments on canvas to become a dynamic interaction with the very spirit of the wonderful town we call home. This exhibition, located in the heart of the University of Missouri, cleverly taps into the viewpoints of MU students, creating a kaleidoscopic image that reflects the unique tapestry of our community. This show features the works of four artists, Joel Chrisman, Frank Stack, Janice Atkins, and John Kline, who are all connected to Columbia, Missouri. Joel Chrisman's artwork painstakingly picked from the collections of the MU Student Unions, transports us to the peaceful surroundings just outside Columbia's borders. These fascinating depictions invite us to discover the peace and tranquility found in the picturesque areas of our own backyard. Colors in CoMO, at the ground level of the Student Center  Frank Stack, a famous University of Missouri Professor Emeritus of Fine Art, adds an...

National Native American Heritage Month

National Native American Heritage Month   (also known as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month) is celebrated annually throughout the month of November. What began as a mutually exclusive effort by different American Indigenous Peoples and groups across the United States to establish a Native American Day, became a resolution in 1990, when President George H. W. Bush approved November as National Native American Heritage Month. Today, this month is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories that acknowledge the important contributions of America’s indigenous peoples. This month is also an opportunity to educate the general public about Indigenous cultures and geography, to raise awareness about the unique challenges Native Peoples have faced, both historically and in the present, and the ways Indigenous Peoples have worked to conquer these challenges.  The exhibition for this month highlights the seven different tribes that once occ...
