Student Artwork on Display in MU Student Center

Our newest exhibition, located on the first floor of the MU Student Center, highlights the creative output of Columbia-area college students. The works on display were recently included in the annual Art After Dark exhibition organized by the Museum Advisory Council of Students (MACS) and held at the MU Museum of Art and Archaeology. The exhibition, "Selections from Art After Dark 2015" will be on display until May 1, 2015.   Art After Dark : An Annual Student Art Competition Art After Dark is an annual event presented by the Museum Advisory Council of Students (MACS). Students from each of the Columbia colleges are invited to submit work to be exhibited during an evening reception at the MU Museum of Art and Archaeology. The group receives an average of 80-100 submissions, which are narrowed to the best 25-30 works. Considering Identity: Erica Rutherford on the body

The Missouri Student Unions presents a new acquisition to its fine art collection. Erica Rutherford, a trangendered artist, created this print in 1970. She served as a professor in the art department of the University of Missouri from 1973 to the early 1980s. This work can be seen in the lower lounge area of the MU Student Center until July, 2015. The figures are dressed in similar configurations of bra-like top, high-waisted briefs and long stockings with medium-length, “bobbed” hairstyles.
