Director's Creativity Showcase

Directors Creativity Showcase, Lower Lair Lounge             Sponsored by the Missouri Mental Health Foundation and the Department of Mental Health , the 2012 Director's Creativity Showcase features award winning art created by persons who cope with mental illness. For the second consecutive year, the MU Student Center proudly hosts this exhibit from November 19th through December 4th. According to Dr. David Wallace, Director of the MU Counseling Center, “The Showcase celebrates the talents of individuals who struggle daily with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or addictions. Hosting the exhibit is one way that we, as a campus, can reduce the stigma that is often associated with mental illness.”   --A special thanks goes out to Patty Henry (Executive Director of the Missouri Mental Health Foundation) and to all of the talented artists who participated in this touring exhibition. Cultural Bricolage at the Student Unions: Mizzou Artists Inspired by Cuba's Ediciones Vigía

In collaboration with the Cultural Bricolage: Artist Books of Cuba's Ediciones Vigía conference (November 11-13), the Missouri Student Unions are proud to host two art shows featuring Mizzou students inspired by the work of Vigía and Rolando Estévez Jordán, its principal designer. The conference's webpage describes Ediciones Vigía as "a collective of book artists located in Matanzas (Cuba) that publishes handcrafted art-object books in a number of genres bringing together multiple aesthetics."   The Design, Construction & Re-Imagination of Books Missouri Student Center, in the display case just outside of Mort's. November 1-31, 2012 "Beginning-level design students in the Department of Architectural Studies created works inspired by the artistic processes of Estévez and Vigía. After selecting a design manifesto written by a 20th century architect, students in Lyria Bartlett’s class produced handmade constructions that reflected the manifestos
